pond scum (definition)

One you would consider a very primitive life form. A person without principles or morals. A useless person. Lower than a wood tick and only slightly higher than whale shit.

Sounds familar.

 

Back in 1988, Marino's Slo-Pitch team in the London PUC league was having a good summer of baseball. Steve heard about a tournament in St.Marys and suggested entering the team. Thus, on August 6, 1988 Pond Scum was born! The only memories of that tournament was all the tequila shots with the locals at The Creamery and someone pulling the pants down on Nick V. exposing his "I Love Daddy" underwear. Needless to say, that was his last and only tournament with Pond Scum.

 

Over the years, as the team got better and moved up in caliber, we began to compete for Provincial Championships and ultimately in 4 National Championships and an invite to the USSSA  World Series in Florida.

 

There have been many great stories over the years and this team has been the glue to long lasting friendships.We pride ourselves on great team chemistry and sportsmanship (and beating teams half our age!). The current squad ranges in ages from early 20's to late 50's.

 

2018 was a very special year for the team. Not only was it the 30th year, but the team went on to win the SPO Provincial Championships and the SPN Natiomnal Championships.
